New Years Resolutions - Yay or Nay in 2025?

The Girl Gang Goals - 2025

In our first episode of 2025, we discuss NY Resolutions - do we do them? Do we not? I have been following along with James Clear and Atomic Habits over the past few years. He says that you need to start small with habits, and build from there. Set up the environment for your success. If you are trying to workout, make sure you set out your workout clothes. Before leaving a room, reset the space so that the space is always clean when you come back into it. If you miss a day, make sure you never miss twice. Sarah and Brandi talked about how they used Finch for keeping track of goals - I had never head of the app but they sold me in this convo! I downloaded the app that night and have been using it ever since. Sorry James Clear, I think Finch wins out over yours. If you are looking for a professional habit tracker with no fluff, Atoms is the way to go. If you want more of a gamification experience, Finch wins out here. You can also have friends on Finch and send them encouragement throughout the day which I really like. My finch is already a Toddler because I’ve been interacting with her so much! Moral of the story, read Atomic Habits if you haven’t and then check out both the apps to see which one you like the most. You can’t go wrong here! Also consider Brandi’s approach for the year - create themed goals. She talked about how she has a finance goal, book goal, career/personal development goal, and travel goal. She may not set these goals right at the beginning of the year, but she takes baby steps throughout the year to reach these goals once she does determine them.

Another friend of mine said that she uses a word of the year as her theme. For the 2025 year, I’ve decided to use the word KIND. When I was going through my big personal development journey the past few years, I asked myself what my non-negotiable habits for myself were and the three words I landed on were Kind, Brave, and Honest. This year, Kind resonates with me in a few different ways. I want to be kind to my body this year. It’s been a stressful few years, and my body knows it. Between being on the verge of an eating disorder, to being on anxiety medication, to being sick every few weeks, there was a period of time my body was not working well. And this past year I’ve been able to significantly enhance my immune system with the help of my Chiropractor and using holistic methods. Another rant for another day, but if your doctor runs tests and says there is nothing wrong and something feels wrong…then something is wrong. Don’t trust someone else if you feel like something is wrong. Keep searching for answers until you can feel better. By being kind to my body this year, I will continue to use the supplements my Chiropractor has recommended, lean into more of a plant-based diet, make sure I get enough movement throughout the day, and appreciate that my body is keeping me alive each and every day. I also want to be kind to my partner. When you work from home and are around the same person all the time, it’s easy to take your stress out on that person. So while my partner and I are in a good space, I want to take the extra effort to be kind to him this year. Being kind to one another will continue to allow us to have some uncomfortable conversations, learn how to communicate better, and plan how we will grow our lives together.

Even the Girl Gang created goals for 2025!! We put them on champagne bottles and everything so you know we will be popping those at the end of 2025. Brandi is tracking how many downloads we get - we need 1,000! And remember that downloads are different than listens so please download our episodes so we can reach this goal. Sarah is the up and coming entrepreneur of the group and wants to get us our first brand deal. So if there are any woman-owned companies out there that want to sponsor us, we would love to chat more. And I want to hear other women’s stories. How have you become the woman you are today and what badass things are you accomplishing this year? We plan to host at least four guests throughout the year and start an initiative to spotlight women across the world.

So my question to you is….what will 2025 be for you? Is it a NY resolution? Is it a habit-tracking app? Is it a word/phrase that you live by throughout the year? Will you have some themed goals? No matter what you decide to do for 2025, it’s only 9 days into the year which means it’s not too late to determine how this year will go for you. Only you control the outcome of your life. And if you can take small steps each day, those lead to wins each day, and you will see big results by the time we are talking about this next year.

So until next time - stay bold, stay empowered…
